COLLECTION
DESCRIPTION OF THE ARTWORK
This drawing represents a service station in a remote area of North America. Elements of the American company Texaco were added.
The building shows the colors used before 1940: red for large letters and the fuel pump, white for the clapboard on the building and green for the doors, windows and outlines of the building.
HISTORICAL AD SIGNS
Some advertising signs are hung on the front of the building, including a reminder of the return of the right to drink alcoholic beverages in the United States, December 5, 1933.
WHERE IS THE INSPIRATION
It is from a photo of a more dilapidated service station having a hot rod parked in front of me that I had the idea to create this work. I created the scene in the dark of the day to have a more interesting atmosphere. I added 2 pin-ups, to let people create their own story!
ABOUT THE VEHICLE
In order to harmonize temporally with the fuel pump, a demonic rat rod Ford of the early 30s was chosen for this purpose. The dark red color was chosen to contrast with the green doors of the garage.
